Cilantro Hummus, Beat Hummus, and Original Hummus Recipes

Funny story.

My beautiful baby girl knows how to talk on the phone.

I don’t know if I should be jumping for joy that my 4 month old daughter may in fact be a baby genius…

OR

be worried that my 4 month old daughter KNOWS how to talk on the phone. Not just any phone…A CELLULAR phone.

You see it’s quite scary cute that she can do this.

All we do is show her the lit up cell phone and say, “Phone for you,” (in perfect english)

and she begins to talk…

I’m guessing by the time her first birthday rolls around she will be demanding the new gadget that I phone has come out with.

Expense taste.

Good girl. MaMa taught you well.

Something else that has been great bothering me lately is this:

You may think this is adorable…

Ok it is! It’s just that ever since my hubby has been home for Christmas Break, Baby boo has fallen asleep in his arms multiple times!!

This wouldn’t be such a problem if every day when he comes home from school I tell him how Baby Boo just won’t fall asleep!

Like he’s really gonna believe me now!

With total frustration, I decided to walk myself into the kitchen and see what I could eat to help cheer me up.

Because it is TOTALLY healthy to eat your feelings.

Lo and behold,

The Hummus

I didn’t just make ONE flavor…

I made THREE

Yea, I was in that kind of mood.

Original Hummus

Adapted by: OhSheGlows

Ingredients:

1 Cup Cooked Chickpeas

1/3 Cup Tahini

2 TB Chickpea liquid

1 tsp. Chopped Garlic

4 TB. Lemon Juice

4 Drops Tabasco Sauce

2-3 TB Olive oil

Paprika

salt

Directions:

Place all ingredients into food processor and blend until smooth. Add spices to your liking. I like mine with salty, but some like theirs more plain. Start with a few dashes, and then add more if you want. Also remember that when you let the hummus sit for a little bit the spices come through more. And if you use salted chick peas, take that into consideration also.

Cilantro Hummus

Ingredients:

1 Cup Cooked Chickpeas

1 Bunch Cilantro

1/3 Cup Tahini (heaping)

2 TB chick pea liquid

1 tsp. Chopped Garlic

4 TB. Lemon Juice

4-5 Drops Tabasco Sauce

2-3 TB Olive oil

Paprika

Cumin

salt

Directions:

Chop your cilantro,

Then throw all your ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth. Adjust spices to your liking.

Beet Hummus

(My favorite by far)

1 Cup Cooked Chickpeas

1/3 Cup Tahini (heaping)

2 TB chick pea liquid

1/3 cup chopped beet

1 tsp. Chopped Garlic

4 TB. Lemon Juice

2-3 TB Olive oil

Paprika

salt

Directions:

Chop up this beautiful looking veggie

Careful, you may be caught red handed!

Hardy har har.

Then throw all ingredients into food processor and blend until smooth. Adjust spices to liking.

Hummus is by far one of my favorite foods. I put it on everything, except chocolate…

Shocker?!?

Also I personally do not own a food processor or an amazing blender…(hint hint santa hubbster, click on link)

So the hummus was a little difficult to blend. I just had to keep blending and add drops of olive oil until I was satisfied. It still turned out great, just had to put in a little more effort.

Did I mention I love hummus?

I wasn’t sure which one I wanted to dive into first.

Why not all three?

Guess I better share with the hubbster…

Especially if I want to stay on Santa’s Good List…

  1. Yummo! Couple of questions. How much cilantro do you chop up and add, the recipe didn’t say. Second somewhere on your blog I stumbled across a mention of avocado-cilantro hummus. Um, get in my belly! Do you have a recipe for that? And last question…beets. Um, I’m a 16 year vegetarian moving toward more vegan, less processed foods and I’ve never had a beet. Wha? It’s true. So can you calm my fears and give me a hint about the beet and it’s flavor? I have no idea what I’m afraid of with the beet. Love the blog, pictures, sharing, all of it! Thanks for putting it out there.

  2. is the beet cooked is the hummus ?:)
